Forum: forums Subject: Uploaded new file to old item on Mac

Using Firefox on my wife's Macintosh Powerbook, I succeeded in uploading the new file. I suspect that the difference had to do with the different versions of Flash, rather than Firefox itself.

Derived files did not appear immediately. I found a link from the metadata editing page to the item manager, and there I triggered a rederivation. I am not sure whether this was necessary. Although the log reported that the rederivation succeeded immediately, I did not see the derived files for several minutes. I can't tell whether they were rederived automatically by the "Share" form, or not.

It looks as though I will be able to upload more new files under Ubuntu, using the older applications from the "item manager." But I only see how to reach the "item manager" through a link from the "edit metadata" form, which is highly confusing. I suggest a link to the manager from the "new file" page also. I also haven't tried this method yet.

I have no idea how to use the directory manager. I don't see any instructions regarding its function.

Forum: forums Subject: Still can't re-upload from Ubuntu

Well, when I follow the highly unintuitive path through the metadata page to the item manager to the uploader, I get the new Flash-based form again, which fails on my Ubuntu system. So, I've got to do these tedious indirect transfers through my wife's Macintosh.

I have a feeling that this sort of service should not depend on Flash. Can we have a link back to a more primitive form?
